Putting her education into practice
Vice President, VP Academic Affairs SMUSA and Criminology-Sociology student
Rachel MacDonald’s experience at Saint Mary’s is all about impact. “You’re in the hub of the city, and you can apply what you’re learning out of the classroom.”
In Rachel’s case, that means far outside of the classroom. Most recently, Rachel was one of several Saint Mary’s students who travelled to Belfast to work with Peaceful Schools International—a global initiative founded and housed at Saint Mary’s—which leads conflict-resolution workshops in Belfast for students in that city’s divided communities.
Here at home she works with Metro Turning Point, Halifax’s largest men’s shelter, as a Client Support Worker.
And on campus, she advocates on behalf of her fellow students as VP of Academic Affairs for the Saint Mary’s University Students Association.
